A Soulful End of Year Ritual Gift For You!

wanted to share a special writing ritual that I have been engaged in this past week to really lock in this year with power, inspiration, celebration and authenticity that I think you will absolute LOVE! It doesn’t matter if this year was “good” or “bad” for you, I highly recommend you give this a try.

ALSO - I’m going to share with you the exact excerpt from my journal on the first question.

One thing that I learned when I started my life coach training several years ago is that to keep us moving forward, growing as a person and overcoming limiting beliefs or blocks, we must reflect on the specifics of our thoughts, feelings, actions and beliefs. We must consciously celebrate to truly lock in success, or we will continue to rely on our habitual subconscious patterns instead of creating new, more empowering ones. We must learn from our mistakes or perceived failures as well, and there are ways we can access our deepest truth to uncover WHY it did or didn’t happen and learn that there is always legit reasons for it. From there, we have greater awareness + capability to choose a new way of being or doing. What I know is that nothing will shift until the present is fully felt and embodied.

These journaling prompt questions are my holiday gift to you. I believe, if you spend honest time with them, that they will bring you much clarity, inspiration, power and motivation. What a spectacular gift you can give yourself going into the new year.

They are meant to ignite deep reflection and prep you for how you would like to show up in 2017, whether that is through resolutions, intentions, year planning or pure openness. Before you can go powerfully INTO the new year to cultivate new goals, you must complete this year by honoring all aspects of your experience. It’s just like the saying “you can pick up something new until you put down what you’re holding onto.”

For this exercise, I would carve out about an hour. You will need your 2016 goals/intentions/resolution/whatever you created as well as your 2016 word theme, if you have one, and of course your journal and pen.

I’ll start us off by showing you what I wrote in response to the first question:

What has your 2016 theme (CONNECTION) taught you? What does it look like to be in that theme fully?

"Connection has taught me that it’s what I really want deep down and when I focus on that instead of having fun or gaining something, it’s way more enjoyable and meaningful. Connection lifts my spirits into joy, openness and a balance of giving and receiving. It’s also taught me how important authenticity is and allowed me to be more authentic, because otherwise, I couldn’t connect. It taught me to look out for connection, notice it when it’s happening and to never underestimate the power of any connection, big or small. All contribute to our soul's desires and destiny. We never know who knows who, and in that regard, we can be prepared for the best connection of our lives at all times from the Starbucks barista to our best friend. Connection helped me bridge the gap between my personal and business life, merging the experience into an unexpected love fest. I built extremely powerful, intentional, successful, meaningful and impactful relationships this year more than any other year. It also encouraged me to shine, grow and create/expand my services in honor of connection, which brought tremendous fulfillment and win-win’s for all involved. It helped me get out of my comfort zone in so many ways. It helped me to USE courage (my theme for 2015) and trust like no other. It was truly an amazing, life-changing theme. Other words associated with connection, that I embodied this year: authenticity, trust, intimacy, courage, receive, give, inspire, joy, desire, grow, collaborate, community, risk, shine."

  • What has your 2016 theme taught you? What does it look like to be in that theme fully?
  • How do you feel when you see what you have accomplished this year?
  • Who are your sisters of significance and main men that have been the biggest impact on your life this year?
  • What goal are you most proud of achieving + why?
  • What was the biggest shift for you in 2016?
  • Where did you fall short + why?
  • What belief was present around the goals you didn’t achieve?
  • What was motivating your goals that you didn’t achieve + how does it relate to your 2016 theme?
  • Why do you think you weren’t ready for the goals that you didn’t achieve?
  • What made the achieved goals work/doable?
  • What else did you accomplish this year besides what you set out to do and how did you grow as a person?
  • What’s the next phase for your life based on what you accomplished this year and who you have become?
  • What would you like to devote yourself to in 2017?

Darling, I would absolutely LOVE to hear how this went for you. Will you let me know by emailing me what stood out most in your responses? OR, email me if you need help writing these responses.

To your new, more powerful, beautiful and inspiring self in 2017.

Beauty week 3

Welcome to week 3 of our Beauty theme focus month.

This interview is with an amazing local Bay Area artist Ellen Brook. We talked about the magical journey Ellen has been on and how art found her. To me, she blends spirituality with her artwork + clothing by her belief that her work drives beauty through a deeper, transcendent force that is bigger than all of us. She honors where she is guided to create and explore herself as a creative person without boundaries, someone she NEVER thought she could be. I love her perspective on beauty, how she truly embraces the practice of creation as a means to connect more with herself and as a more compelling way for others to connect to themselves.

Basically, Ellen reminds us to make space in your life for beauty to see what magic can emerge.

Watch the video now! Then make sure to comment in the video so we can keep the conversation going. We would love to know how this video impacted you. Also, feel free to share it!

After calling many places ‘home’ and traveling extensively, Ellen began her artistic journey in California in the late 90's. Investigations into consciousness and meditation paralleled her introduction to painting.  Following a career in corporate and non-profit communications, Ellen reoriented her life to focus on her art.

Ellen maintains an art practice and designs and creates original, hand-made women’s apparel and accessories. Her artwork has been exhibited in solo and group shows, and hangs in private collections. Ellen’s artwork and clothing have been recognized in “Uncommon Threads”, a group show at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History; Fiber Arts Now Magazine; on the runway in FashionArt SantaCruz 2013 & 2014 and Pivot: The Art of Fashion 2015; and featured on the cover of “las Aventuras de Pasion’, a Latin Jazz CD.

Ellen holds a B.A. from Duke University and an M.P.A. from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. She now resides and maintains her studio just south of San Francisco. Ellen is on the Advisory Board of the Fashion and Design Department at Canada College, Redwood City, CA.

Brook’s soft palette of Eastern-inspired silk apparel creates a semblance of earth-toned fluidity that floats down the runway.”

Beauty week 2

We are in week 2 of our Beauty theme focus this month. Are you enjoying it? Have you noticed more beauty in your life both internally and externally?  Have you experienced a bigger perspective on this concept? I'd love to know whatever is happening for you...shoot me an email. One of my clients shared over on Instagram that she had no idea how much she valued beauty until working with me and that it was a huge game changer!

Today I'm discussing beauty with my new friend Paul Julch, a personal wardrobe stylist (AKA Style Coach).

This week, as you embrace a new perspective on beauty through the transformative nature of clothing, you will learn what helps make outfits interesting, how you can subconsciously be hiding and why you gotta put the smile on even when you don't feel like it. In this video, he says so many profound things, especially about having style no matter what. I love that, NO EXCUSES! Watch the video now and soak up his wonderful energy and wisdom.

Paul believes that everyone deserves to feel great about how they look, everyday. No matter a client's lifestyle, body type, or budget – he helps them create a modern, current and versatile wardrobe that gets them through their day with confidence.
Paul believes in personal style, not trends. He works with clients to figure out what works for them, and guides them to that goal. And he believes in shopping with purpose, not buying for the sake of buying.
Paul works with clients in the San Francisco Bay Area, and remotely throughout the country. And when he's not working, he's spending time with his husband, son and two dogs - and on his day off, you may just catch him out shopping for himself.

Beauty

Welcome to 5 weeks of beauty! For the entire month of December, I will be sharing exclusive interviews with some of my favorite beauty experts for the purpose of revealing the unique power and impact that all versions of beauty have on our success, confidence and motivation.

It's time to embrace a new perspective on beauty, what it means, how it serves us and how it can truly shift our life experience immensely. Today, I will share my perspective.

As a Professional Organizer and Feng Shui consultant, I have been working in the homes of my clients for over 6 years, helping them declutter, streamline systems and most of all, what has set me apart from others, helping to make their space beautiful, sacred and full of life! Beauty plays a big role in this. As a Life Coach, I’m still supporting my clients with their home while also guiding them to take more of a self-care focus, which often includes the realm of beauty.

My signature Energy Alignment System has beauty ingrained in its core as a secret weapon for sustainable success. Enhancing our outer beauty is fun, but our inner beauty, the place that lights up our soul and sparkles out of our eyes is what is truly brings us to a place of satisfaction and happiness. When those are in place, we can set ourselves up for success by having beauty reflected back to us in our environment.

What I have learned is that there are so many factors that play into what feels beautiful in our environment from color to balanced furniture to memorable items. When we surround ourselves with only things that inspire us, we will have the capacity to source our motivation at any moment and take inspired action, which feels easy instead of overwhelming or drudging.

This whole concept of a deeper meaning of beauty speaks directly to the subconscious mind. What we see with our eyes, the sense we trust the most, we translate into our thoughts, which eventually become a belief. What is closest to us has the most impact on us. So, what is your main environment, your home, office or car reinforcing to yourself?

Beauty has also been a constant theme in my personal life. I have loved fashion and make-up since the beginning, which I know is typical for little girls, but the way it has consistently shown up in my dreams, profession and success shows me that it’s more than an interest. Beauty is part of my purpose, part of creating that sacred space, part of feeling inspired and absolutely part of what makes all that I do worthwhile. Its relevance goes much deeper than skin, and that is what you will find out through these interviews.

I believe it’s ingrained in our DNA/make up as women to cultivate beauty. We are both blessed and cursed to live in this modern world and have access to so many tools that can either help or harm us. There is a tendency to lean more towards the superficial when we talk about beauty, which creates an imbalance and unfulfillment. Shifting gears to a more meaningful and soulful interpretation of how beauty can be present will help balance out the physical focus. I believe it is just a shift in perception that will allow us to do this, which is again, why I have interviewed beauty experts in different professions to show you how.

This is important not only to help bring more awareness that it’s possible to balance out the superficial focus of modern society, but also to increase your own quality of life and future! I can PROMISE you that if you enhanced your internal beauty, external beauty and supportive elements of beauty in your environment that you will be happier. You will feel luscious, invigorated, calm, present, inspired, authentic, confident, creative, playful and successful. Things will start to get a little easier and more enjoyable.

My beauty ritual I can’t live without is COLOR. I use it in wall paint, clothing, make-up, covers, decor, website, artwork and more. I use a very intentional approach for every single item. Every color has a certain energy and specific meaning about it, so depending on what I am doing from getting ready to meditating at my alter to designing my office, there is a deep intention and meaning infused in it’s presence, which manifests in my experience. There are countless studies on how color impacts us, so I urge you to research if this intrigues you. Color is POWERFUL.

I hope you are inspired by now! If you want to keep the inspiration going and get a little more clarity on something you want to shift in your life, book a complimentary Inspiration Session now.

4 steps to overcoming difficult situations

This post is from last year, but I wanted to bring it back because of it's relavence right now. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

I come from a divorced family, got pulled away from my siblings when I was young, lived with a single workaholic mother and now have an international distance between us all. There has been a lot of healing around connection for me in my life, as family is the #1 place we learn how to connect and be intimate. I have been dedicated to boundaries, authentic expression, and connection these past few years on all accounts, but I am very proud of where I am at with my family and how far we have come. So, since I have been able to work through so much with my own family and close relationships, I would love to share 4 steps that will help you through difficult situations that might pop up this week.

Intimacy issues are so common and they can affect everything from our psyche to our schedule. It manifests as addictive behavior, workaholism, isolation, self-destruction or burn out. What I’ve learned is that when we repress or block connection from happening, we need to replace it with something that is more “acceptable” or easier to “deal” with. When we want to block connection, it simply means we don’t feel safe enough to open up. This is when things usually go wrong, we can’t find a common ground or some sort of confrontation happens because we will defend our ego’s honor (think: family drama!).

Blunt face: I don’t care what you think you feel about your family right now or how many bad things they did to you. It’s actually irrelevant. What I care about, dear sister, is how much authentic power you can harness so the world is brighter and more connected. Ponder on this before we go into the steps: the way you hold someone in your mind, the intention you set for them to show up, will allow their higher selves to recognize this energetic space to step into. In other words, it’s not wise to go into situations expecting the worse or deciding that someone will continue their habitual automatic behavior because you will be showing up in defense mode, walls and all! This is a recipe for disaster and disconnection. Why not create a better scenario so you can have an incredibly rewarding experience?

Test these steps out this week as you are around your loved ones. As difficult situations or feelings arise, take yourself through this process. This requires much awareness and presence in order to take yourself through the process. You’ve got this, though!

1. Perspective

First, open up your perspective. Anger, resentment or frustration will keep you with blinders on. You’ve got to get to a space of neutral in order for you to choose how you can successfully move forward, which you can only do from a bigger perspective than what you are currently working with. This may require you to leave the room, take some breaths or ask more questions. (BTW, these are all boundaries).

I already know what you’re thinking, “how the hell do I get to a neutral state when they are so dumb!?” Compassion. Energetically, compassion is the emotion that will bring us up out of the negative spiral. It will allow us to be in that neutral state where we can actually choose from our higher self. Compassion is understanding the other person is at where they are at, knowing what they know, perhaps not as much as we do, or have experienced what we have, and they are doing the best they can with their level of consciousness. Neither one of us is better for knowing or experiencing things, we are simply different. Our differences make us prime pickings for healing, love and forgiveness. Forgiving them for their perceived “shortcomings” is also compassion. Remember, we only make up shortcomings based on our expectations.

Don’t you feel a little better now? Being willing to connect to them by accepting who they are will help us gain a better perspective. Only from this space can we have a win-win and healthy relationship free of judgment, blame or resentment.

2. Values

You might have heard me talk about values before, as they are the basis of my teachings. I believe we are all searching and striving towards what we value most, which directs our behavior. When we are clear on what our values are, we are able to access + articulate our desires so they can be met! How often do we assume the other person knows what we want? They should just know, right?

Many times fights and confrontation happen because something thinks they are not getting what they want or need. Sometimes we make it about the other person (projection) or simply attack them with harsh words and everything spirals out of control and nothing gets accomplished. When we can bring our values into the mix and authentically state what we need which stems from our values, we give the other person an opportunity to meet them or share a resource for how to get them met.

As a random example, Aunt Sally may not know about your big need for adventure which might mean she could make a snarky comment when you suggest flag football for the family to play. You get offended and then either fight back and get defensive or close your mouth and feel defeated. You see how it’s a lose-lose? If you spoke up and simply shared how you need to connect with family, in an energetic and adventurous way, you either might get to play flag football or she might have another exciting suggestion. The thing to remember is that no matter what, we all care about each other as people, so hearing real needs and desires stated in a place of ownership (“i” statements), we will usually go to bat for them, too.

3. Be the change

Nothing changes without action, so if you are hoping to change a situation, you must speak up and put your best foot forward. Repressing your feelings, needs or ideas and avoiding confrontation will keep us stuck and resentful. The only way others are going to understand us is when we express ourselves. The only way others are going to want to help us or work with us, is when we respect and honor them. I’m talking about a conscious give and take that requires immense presence to do. Caring about the other as much as we care about our needs will help us work through difficult confrontation, but it must happen! This is where our character shows up best. Challenges that require us to show up differently are opportunities for our greatness to actually emerge.
Do you want more peace in the home? Be peaceful in your actions and with your words. Want to feel more understood by your family? Ask them about their life and their values. Be curious. Want to have more fun at the annual boring feast? Start a dance party at the table. You get the idea!

So, who do you want to be? What is the change you are hoping to happen? What needs to be said? What action can you take to show your commitment to the change? Take a breath, know you are safe and step up to the plate, my dear.

4. Accept

Whatever happens now, just let it go and accept it. There is a fine line between inspiring others through your actions/words and being pushy. The bridge there is discernment. Often, we go to a place of judgment if something doesn’t go our way. “Oh, well I tried that and it didn’t work, so I must be doing something wrong" or "I’ll never get what I want.” Sound familiar? Sometimes we need to plant the seed. Change doesn’t always happen instantly, but I guarantee that you will feel 10000% better if you take the previous steps even if you end up not getting what you want in this particular situation because of how you showed up for yourself.

Nothing ever ‘doesn’t go right’, it is all orchestrated for your higher learning and development. If you did all the previous steps and were disappointed with the results, release your expectation and celebrate what you had to do and who you had to become in order to show up that way. You are more confident, authentic and knowledgeable because of it. Whoever you interacted with knows you more now, so they can have the space they need to let who you are sink in. Maybe next time or later in the day, they will react differently. Sometimes people need a lot of space to process change.
I am more on the impatient side, so I get how annoying and time-consuming something might seem. ‘Seem’ is the key word here, because you AND them have learned something in the process. There is progress no matter what and there is always more than one way to achieve something.

I am celebrating the strides I’ve taken with my own family. My mother and I shared our intentions for our time together last Thanksgiving and it was such a blessing. I know that all the drama I had to go through and the times that seemed like nothing was changing were all building on each other to bring us here, after many years of frustration and perceived struggle. I always felt like they never understood me or cared about my differences. I went to victim town a lot. I drank a lot to get the balls to even be around them sometimes. I reflected back every time and learned what worked and what didn’t. I had to keep re-committing to myself with every trial and error. I didn’t give up on myself or on them. Never in a million years would I guess that my relationship with my family would be like it is now, if you were to ask me that 10 years ago.

I hope this is inspiring to you, love. Anything is possible when we honor ourselves.

Love,

Turning your fears into freedom

Is fear running your life?
Are you always coming up with excuses as to why you can't do something or be somebody?
Are you self-sabotaging by playing small so you "just get by" or make "just enough" to stay afloat?
Do you isolate yourself from others when you are feeling down, sad or scared?

Although these scenarios are quite normal, they are not serving your highest potential, that magnificent woman with endless resources, enthusiasm and passion.

Although those scenarios are normal, they won't benefit your future or your quality of life.

And although those scenarios are normal, you can't possibly grow or cultivate happiness or success with beliefs that keep you in s state of fear.

After leading an all-day intensive women's circle and workshop this past weekend (which was phenomenal, btw), the theme of identity has been extremely present in my life and the lives of my friends, colleagues and clients. I've seen first hand how much fear can control our lives and keep us playing small, in the "safe zone", where complacency exists.

Identity is your persona, your life title, the characteristics of your being and your intrinsic makeup of will, skill and purpose.

I know how much you want success, happiness, deep connection, freedom, balance and love, because not only do I see these desires every day with clients, but I want them myself, too. Before we can have these things, we have to actively and consciously create our identity from the inside out, first eliminating the fear holding us back and then claiming who we want to be.

I'm bringing this up because I have a feeling fear might be really present in your life right now.

You can tell if you feel stuck, if you feel disconnected, if you feel apathetic, if you feel alone, over-nostalgic, burnt out, overwhelmed, unmotivated and/or unhappy.

Today, I did my own work and journaling around any fears that might be present in my own life. After seeing the bravery of the women who worked through some fear at the workshop, and in honor of the major supermoon that is illuminating all of our fears right now, I sat down and got real.

Although my life is drastically different than when fear was running my life, I still noticed how it was present and running the show in a few areas. Through the exercise I led myself through, I saw the connection that my fear had with my beliefs, which created my reality. I realized the perspective that I was choosing which wasn't helping feed my empowering beliefs, and saw where I could focus my efforts in a way that would increase my confidence in the beliefs I wanted to have which would give me the results I was looking for. At the end, I felt unstoppable

I took myself through a process that I made up on the spot from fear to freedom. I'm feeling the swirlings of a dream come on as I write this and think about the profound impact of a 30 min journaling session. Perhaps a new program is brewing, but I'll tell you what has shifted, and that is remembering of my life's purpose and mission.

You see, what we often forget when we are blinded by fear is that it often shows us what our desires are or what our INTENTIONS could be.

Fear shows us our limiting beliefs and where we are giving our power away.

It shows us what perspective we are choosing to dwell in and, if we are willing, it can show us how capable we actually are to move past it.

This is what I want for YOU, darling. I left my journal feeling empowered for myself and back on track, but more so, I feel called to connect with more women to give them the space to explore like I did in a safe and magically structured space to finally start creating positive results in their life.

Moving past fear doesn't have to be complicated. Shifting your perspective from fear to love can be gentle, rewarding and empowering. This is what I would like to offer you today, as a special gift with no strings attached.

I usually offer what I call "inspiration sessions" for those that want to learn how they can work with me. They are so much fun, and really, you can't be around me and not be inspired. However, I'd like to extend this complimentary time to you with a focus on turning your FEAR into FREEDOM in one mini session.

Seriously

You want in?

I won't be offering this again, so take advantage of this private one-on-one coaching time with me to help guide you through your fear and into a more liberating, authentic and successful life.

Simply click on the button to book an Inspiration Session and write "FEAR TO FREEDOM" in the notes so I know it will be your special session.

I really look forward to talking with those that are ready to confront their fear and walk with passion, purpose and power in their life starting NOW.

Lots of love,

"How the hell do I follow my heart?"

I’d like to share the stirrings of my own heart this week, in hopes you can find some inspiration for your own life. Maybe a sign to keep going or turn around. I just want to offer you my truth, trusting that it will serve you in some way.

I’m preparing for what is going to be a very powerful workshop and women’s circle live in the Bay Area on Friday, so my mind and heart are swirling around this topic. I’m tuned into the energy of the women who will attend, holding space for their transformation already while still healing and working through my own version of an Identity shift. It’s wild! This is my life.

I’ve asked this question for many many years now…

How the hell do I follow my heart?

Ive never really come up with a succinct answer, it just happened through a series of very fortunate and conscious events. I first learned what obstacles were in the way, so I could make the process feel lighter. I then had to hone the habits that support my becoming. Now, as I continue to shift more into the divine feminine as a leader, mentor, coach, friend, daughter, sister and lover, I am now understanding the deep truths that are emerging that are quite scary for this superficial world we are used to. There is a power within me (and I believe within all of us women, especially those reading this) that is exquisitely grand, ready to roar and bestow love on women who need healing. My life is ready to expand, and my heart has been doing so lately.

I have been thinking back to how I pulled off so many successes and dreams, how I have led with heart. I’m reminiscing on how I overcame the weight of our inherited instruction and ingrained beliefs to play small as well as how painful that felt. I knew I was always meant for something greater than the status quo, but how could that happen when my heart was aching, when I had no clue how I was going to get there or what I even wanted? How the hell do I follow my heart?!

As with most processes, it all starts with release. We can’t pick up something new until we put down what we’re still holding onto. I visualized my heart being surrounded by overgrown weeds and tall walls of protection. I saw it as a scary place, an untrustworthy and dangerous place that if anyone got a glimpse of her (my heart), she would be toast. My unhappiness was a sign I was neglecting her, but I couldn’t find the courage to honor her.

So, I found my way to her through my inner wisdom’s direction:

take down the walls of obligation

tumble the bricks of the past

cut the thorns of people pleasing

put out the fires of overwhelm

and let your heart breathe again.

give her space and love and attention and stillness.

care for the body holding her together.

listen to the subtle whispers,

honor the feelings she offers you

and find the flutterings of her desire

in the time she wants to show them to you.

And over time, with the right help, support, structures and boundless love, I learned how to do this. And I’m still learning how. Everyone is my teacher: the animals, my relationships, my clients, strangers, my mentors, celebrities, my family. We, as women, are Queens by birthright. We have the power to rule with heart or rule with hate. In order to heal this planet, it starts with us. Everyone is looking to us to set the example and have the courage to just START. So I am setting that example. I stumble sometimes, but I always come back to her. It is so worth it.

If you live in the Bay Area or would like to come visit, read more about my event Living From The Heart. We have limited spots left and it would be an honor to have you. I know the the women who are feeling the calling are meant for monumental shifts in their life. I’m honored and grateful to be providing this opportunity for more women to know and understand what it takes to live, love and lead with heart.

May your week, no matter the outcome of this crazy election, be full of heart. What stirs within her, love? Do share below in the comments.
