What it means to align your energy for success

Often, I am the one who preaches productivity and then gets stuck in my own procrastination trap because I don’t plan well enough. As a productivity expert, my life lessons keep getting more comprehensive around success. We aim to master something we love but we never really master anything. It will always keep coming up in new ways so that we can go deeper into the mastery and learn more about ourselves in the process. With that being said, I’ve found that in my experience, it is our alignment of our own energy and focus that truly produces results. 

Sometimes we don’t have to know how to do something in order for us to achieve it. Surrendering to the process and having trust in ourselves is really a big part of it all. But, how do we do that in the midst of an overwhelming schedule and demands of life? The balance of yin and yang. 

In Feng Shui, yin represents feminine qualities like softness, receiving, allowing, flowing, intuitive, emotional and creative. Yang represents masculine qualities like assertiveness, determination, logical, analytical and giving or doing. Everything from our head to our home needs a balance of these qualities for maximum enjoyment. What happens when we feel overwhelm or confusion is that something is out of balance in one of these areas.

 

Surrendering and trust must not be mistaken for laziness and irresponsibility. Surrendering only comes after doing everything you can with what you have where you are. Taking massive action to achieve a goal is a real, tangible part of the process. However, there is only so much you can do and control.

Trust comes from the believing in yourself that you are capable and that the universe/God/Allah/your higher self/whoever has your back! We are not on this earth to fend for ourselves. It’s only with that mindset that keeps us stuck. 

 

Speaking of mindset, that leads me into the reason I believe in Energy Alignment, a system I created for authentic manifestation.  

To clarify, I’m actually not talking about the physical energy alignment like bodywork (massage/reiki/etc), but, rather the alignment of our mindset, actions and support that sets us up for everything we desire. Bodywork only helps with this :)

 

Taking an all-encompassing approach is my secret sauce in my work as a coach.

When you simply focus on only one aspect or technique to achieve a goal, this only invites an escape route (TWEET THAT).

If you can imagine, covering all your bases emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally increases the likelihood of success by 10 fold. The caveat is that of course we cannot control what the end result is like receiving money, clients or material things, but we can surely give 100% from us which ensures our growth and success in general. If you are doing everything you can and being your best self, don’t you think you will get way ahead of where you are now, even if you don’t get exactly what you wanted? Yes, you will! 

This is usually where I see the trap of overwhelm come into play that throws us off balance and in procrastination mode. We think we need to DO all these things, but BEING is a big part of this process too. Doing everything we can means taking massive action, yes, but also it means being fully present, practicing spirituality, having fun, having healthy boundaries and receiving help (all that YIN). Half of this process is actually not doing anything, but in the being of our true selves.

 

When you feel overwhelmed but desperate to reach new heights, notice what might be out of balance. Do you have too much on your plate to take care of? Are you energetically drained? Are you emotionally empty? Do you feel disconnected or depressed? 

If so, it’s time for a balance break! What can you eliminate, add, replace or tweak so that it serves you better? What aspects of Yin or Yang are you putting too much attention on?

 

My Energy Alignment System involves a deep excavation into the soul so that success of all kinds is inevitable. It works with mindset, actions and support structures. I think of it like a building project. You need a thorough blueprint with precise measurements and plans (mindset/thoughts/beliefs/goals/desires), a hardworking team to create a solid foundation (actions/schedule/activities) and beautiful landscaping, furniture and people to occupy the space (support/sustaining growth+enjoyment).

I created this because I was sick of living in overwhelm and tired of doing the same thing over and over again with no results. I would put all my efforts into one of these areas and feel totally depleted so I wouldn’t continue. Once I found proper techniques and had major realizations around efficiency, it all came together. I’ve used this with myself and my clients countless times, and keep using it on myself as I grow. 

There is a lot that goes into my process, as It takes 3 months minimum in my opinion to activate all 3 steps. What I’m able to help women with as a mentor and coach is identifying their integrity holes (where they are out of integrity in how they want to live) and quickly eyeing the possibilities for growth, so we can, together, create their own unique path to success.

A Common Organizing Mistake That Can Keep You Stuck

Problem: Though your home is sizable and filled with gorgeous treasures, it still feels super disorganized. You have no room for the things you actually use on a daily or weekly basis and it’s making you mad! You are craving systems! Yes, that’s what you need, some sort of system. Or a mansion…either one. 

If you’re reading this, here’s what I know about you: You value beauty, good design or some piece of aesthetic loveliness. This is apparent in many ways from your key chain to your perfume tray to your priceless art pieces to your limited edition Swarovski bunny (go with it). I already know your environment is important to you because of who and what you choose to surround yourself with. I KNOW you have tried to get it together and that you are a smart person. So, why, then are you feeling confused, disorganized, ashamed and clutterfied? 

 

Here’s the lineup…

Confusion happens when we don’t have enough information. 
Disorganization happens when we postpone decisions or misplace our priorities. 
Shame happens when we feel like we are doing something wrong. 
Clutter happens when we neglect our space (due to previous reasons and becoming overwhelmed). 

Can you start to see the pattern here? If you are feeling any of these symptoms, your priorities are off balance, which is causing some serious setbacks. Ain’t no thang, honey! Read on…

I’m going to lay it out for you, but don’t take it personal (I’m just a bottom line kind of gal). 

You are prioritizing the wrong stuff. 

By placing seniority on your valuable decor items, the daily necessities are left to fall between the cracks (literally). So, what happens when we prioritize our valuable decor items and neglect what we actually USE? Clutter, confusion, disorganization and shame.   

It took a while for me to recognize this pattern in myself and then also to see it in my clients again and again. 

Another bottom line: You have plenty of space. I see this predicament with most of my clients no matter what the size of their home, and I’m finding myself in this situation at least once a month with them. That’s right! You are not alone. It’s happened enough now that it’s time for me to bottom line it in a blog (hooray!). My wish is for you to take charge of your space so you can have both beauty AND function. 

The Challenge

1. Distinguish what in your space has a place or system and what doesn’t. Lump ALL of your belongings into categories and put into two columns titled “Has a Home” and “Doesn’t Have a Home” 
(Potential categories include: Art, furniture, clothes, paper, office supplies, tableware, toiletries, make up, jewelry, shoes/accessories, etc. You can get as specific as “bunny collection” or as broad as “paper”).  

2. Next, you can see which categories have homes and which ones don't. Star or circle the categories that are in the “Doesn’t Have a Home” column that really need a home and could use some organization and priority.
(These are categories you use and need often such as clothes, toiletries or office supplies.)

This is where you will begin to see which categories need to possibly shift in your space setup priority list. Maybe you need a shelving unit where the huge painting is so you can easily access the books you read every day. Perhaps you need to put a wardrobe in place of that never-used victorian chair so you can hold all of your clothes or accessories neatly. Consider, even, the possibility of donating some excess decor to make room for (cute) containers for your supplies or toiletries. 

3. Finally, make a new two-column list titled “Priority” and “Extra”. Put the newly dubbed priority categories in the "priority" column and the categories that you don’t use often in the "extra" column.

Now, the priority categories are your first order of business. Move the extra items away and make room for the priorities (what you need and use). Put the priorities front and center, what I call the “prime real estate” where items are reachable and accessible.  If there is room at the end for the extras to live, great! If not, donate, store, sell or let go of. 

Decor should always be the last step in space planning. Keep in mind that your priority categories can be beautified, too!  It's just an opportunity for creativity.

Final bottom line: Systems help, but not until necessities have priority and take precedence over decor. (TWEET THAT)

I believe we all are energy and what we DO with that energy can be powerful (TWEET THAT!).  Even more so when used in conjunction with other like energy simultaneously. This is similar to why Feng Shui works. In other words, a ton of people doing the same thing at the same time for the same reason. I'm sure you can understand why this concept in general is so powerful. 

We all have things to do. We all talk about there not being enough time to do it in. We all take on more than we can handle at some point and then complain why our lives aren't what we want it to be. I know how easy it is to get caught up in the "what life gives you" storm. We can all sure use any help we can get. Am I right?

That's why I get excited to utilize the universe for success. Here are 3 ways I've had success in constructing my days, weeks & to-do list according to the cosmos. 

Astrological Significance of Days of the Week

"Have you ever noticed how each weekday has a distinct feel to it? Each day of the week is governed by a planet or a luminary (moon and sun), and so each day has a special energy and feel to it according to its overruling planet. We can use astrological meaning of days to enhance our progress every day of the week. Being aware of daily planetary properties can facilitate alignment of our thoughts and allow a better flow of productivity throughout our days and weeks.

Learning the planetary personalities and each meaning of days opens a whole new realm of potential growth. A fabulous flow of energy can be created when we work with the planetary attributes rather than blindly moving through our week. Here are my suggestions on what you can plan for each day that would be most beneficial:

Monday - MOON - introspection, meditation, determining emotions (write, set boundaries, feel into desires).
Tuesday - MARS - Take action on new/old projects (organizing!), plan a full day, stay active/energetic.
Wednesday - MERCURY - Communicate (email, speak, phone, blog...), connect, travel, go to doctor.
Thursday - JUPITER - Do anything that you want to grow/increase in size, meetings, planning.
Friday - VENUS - Love someone (you count!), dates, creativity, finding pleasure in necessary tasks.
Saturday - SATURN - Cleaning, preparation, studying, adventures
Sunday - SUN - Rest, cooking, learning, fueling, nurture, be bold, wish.

 

Time of Day Scheduling

Just like days of the week, the time of day has an impact on your productivity. Each hour is also ruled by a planet, but that gets too convoluted for me. Let's just go with the sun schedule here. Some of this might be obvious, but try to put a deeper meaning into what you schedule for each timeframe. 

DAWN: Ease into new energy, decide on intention as light emerges so you can "see" better

MORNING: Schedule something new, work on the hardest tasks needing the most energy or tasks that you desire expansion from.

NOON: Starting at 12pm, the sun is goin' down and that affects on our actions. After noon until evening is a great for working towards projects/goals, studying/learning and clean up any "mess" (whatever that might look like).

TWILIGHT: Wrap it up! Take it slow and be more alert as "shadows" are appearing, enjoy the transition.

NIGHT: Quiet rest and rejuvenation, secretive behavior or introspection, endings (think relinquishing duties/responsibilities or releasing of something no longer needed).

 

The Moon Cycles

The moon, as our closest planet, is SO POWERFUL. Especially for us Women! Each moon cycle is ruled by another planet and therefore comes with different traits/personalities/strengths. We can honor each 2 week cycle by living according to what the corresponding planet of the month represents. You can find information on what each month's planetary moon combo is online (google it). In general, keep these guidelines in mind for each phase:

NEW MOON - A fresh start to set intentions for the month and especially the next two weeks. It's the time to start new endeavors, begin processes and create. As the moon is waxing (getting bigger), we are able to harness that growth in our own lives, just like I mentioned in the morning time above. 

FULL MOON - Big & bright, this means we can see the darkest spots in our lives. It's our spotlight to celebrate. We are supported in "illuminating our shadow sides". As the moon is waning (getting smaller), it's the time to release what is no longer serving us such as habits, people, endeavors or beliefs. 

 

Fascinating, huh?

Own Your Season of Life

How present and in the moment aware are you?

I find that it's all too common for us to live in the future or the past instead of enjoying what we have right here in the present. Unfortunately, there are more risks involved with that than we think.

Time for a change in thinking...

In America, we are conditioned to be nostalgic, rely on past patterns, stick to family traditions out of obligation or please others first. We are bombarded with pushy marketing to speed up, buy more and consume as much as we can. As a society, we are trained by each other to worry about money, take pills for anxiety, sabotage efforts of ourselves or others and become accustomed to settling for less than what we want. I think it's about time this ends.

I want to call you out of the trenches to rise up and be the person you actually want to be with the life you actually want to live. 

I said goodbye to that kind of life over a couple of years ago when I signed up for an exclusive life coach training program. It changed my life, yes, but it also made me finally realize shit needs to change NOW.

What we all need...

There are a myriad of lessons, routines and tools I could tell you about, but the biggest one of all that I am still learning how to master to this day is presence. With all that conditioning mentioned above, it's quite challenging to break those habits, right? Constant awareness and reminders have to be set to remember to be present. It's important because that's where all our power comes from, the present moment.

We give our power away when we live in the past or future. (TWEET THAT

That's when life goes downhill and we keep riding that roller coaster called overwhelm and unfulfillment. Let's not let life pass us by. Let's get off that roller coaster and meander along, soaking it all up.

Before we can do that, we need to shift our perspective to the present moment and the season of life we are currently in.

Reflection is a powerful tool for success, but presence is even more powerful. As I look back on the different times in my life, I definitely regret not enjoying them more. I have always wanted what I can't or don't have and in the fastest way possible. This obviously kept me from happiness and truly growing into myself naturally. Sometimes it takes a few re-dedications and flipping the switch to catch yourself and get off that roller coaster. I realize it's not about perfection, but, rather living in tune with every moment. Just like meditation, it's about bringing the focus back when we wander off. It's about honing THAT skill, as opposed to beating ourselves up that we aren't good at being present. How do we hone the skill of awareness and harnessing the present? By owning our season of life. 

What's your season?

Examples of seasons of life are: being a toddler, pre-school, elementary school, middle school, high school, college, studying abroad, month long backpacking trip to Europe, your 20s, volunteering on a politicians campaign, any job, being on tour, dealing with an illness, living in a certain neighborhood/city, being pregnant, raising a young child, raising a teenager, empty nesters, retiring, extended travel, retreats, unemployment, taking education courses, getting married, going all eat-pray-love, physical training, being in a relationship and the list goes on.

The actual events going on, people you are hanging out with, job you have and overall circumstance is your season of life. Sometimes seasons of life overlap. In other words, we have multiple seasons of life at the same time. We don't always know how long our season of life could be, but one thing is certain: it is unique to you and you will NEVER experience this season of life again. So ENJOY it! Relish this time, even if its hard. Savor the moments as much as you can, notice more, let arguments go, get out of your comfort zone, be with your loved ones and do what feels right at this time. Your bucket list will always be there and everything is in divine timing.

Actual Seasons

Also, as you may have guessed, the actual physical season we are in affects the quality of our seasons of life. That means taking full advantage of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Even when it's a season you hate, get into it. It will expand your enjoyment and overall happiness when you get out of your comfort zone and embrace what Mother Nature is givin'. This will help you be more present and elevate your experience.

Personally, I hate summer. I'm not a heat person, and I feel like my body shuts down when it's hot. I get grumpy, sweaty and triggered easily. What I know, though, is that these irritable signs are clues to where I need to grow. I am aware that my lifelong lesson will forever be "letting go" in some way or another and making it magical. For me in summer that looks like wearing really flowing clothes, savoring cold, delicious food, noticing breezes, going swimming, enjoying farmers markets and staying active. Air conditioned movie theaters are a beacon of light at this time for me, too.

3 Smart Stress Cures

April is Stress Awareness Month, so I thought I would share my favorite tips on combating the evil S word.

When we let ourselves get stressed, it causes loads of illnesses, increases risk of disease, makes us fat, yadda yadda yadda. You're smart, you know this.

We all know we shouldn't have stress, but we still do, right? What I want to get into right now is how you can actually flip that switch the moment you recognize stress.

What stresses you out? Why do you think it stresses you out? Think about it...if what stresses you out brings you to a level that is not supporting you, why do you let it happen?

I am inspired by my friend Crystal this week when she told me a story of her and her boss. She explained how stressful her job has been and what negative, projective energy her boss always has. It was so draining and when she finally realized what was happening, she said to her boss straight up "You know, I can't do this anymore. I'll finish out the week, but I'm done. My highest priority is my spirituality and I do not less stress into my body. I feel like working with you does that to me, so I need to let this go." WOW! Way to go, sister! I love how she stood up for her values so strongly.
 
It's funny to me when I realize what is stressing me out. I most often think "WHAT?! this is bull$#!%"  It's because I KNOW that I am not paying attention to something important to me. Sometimes, we gravitate towards the emotions we are comfortable with too. If we grew up in a stressful environment, we might find stress to keep us in our comfort zone, subconsciously. Or if we have friends that are a lot of drama and stress, we take that on to fit in.
 

A Few Common Stress-Inducing Situations & How to Combat Them

1. Anxiety
Here's the deal: you are living in the future and using your imagination in a way that is not serving you. Thanks to one of my mentors Christine Hassler, this was an eye opening idea to me that changed my whole view on anxiety. I definitely believe it's possible to deal with anxiety without medication, but do understand those with chronic anxiety need much more support than talking it out. For those that have it occasionally, I invite you to become bring yourself back to the present when this happens. Meditate, breathe, ground yourself, whatever it takes. 

2. Overwhelm
For this one, I am excited to share this amazing quote from my coach Jeannine Yoder, which blew me away when I heard it:

"Overwhelm is the mistaken doubt that the resources are not available to fulfill your wants and needs."

Right?! Brilliant. You have everything you need at your fingertips for what you need to do in this moment. Maybe the perception needs to be expanded a bit. Or perhaps there needs to be a little more patience. Often times, we know something should be a certain way and are not happy about it. It's in those times we fully let go after doing the best we can and trusting it will happen as it should that brings the most peace.

3. Overworked & Underplayed
One of my consistent no-nonsense teachings is for everyone to schedule their play time. It's so crucial to mental health as it is physical. Plus, often the play activities are just that: active! Win-win for feeling fulfilled and physical activity which combats stress in and of itself.

What about those who are actually UNDERworked...maybe you are not working right now or in between jobs and playing too much? If that is you, I would still say stick to your hobbies (not to be confused with going out all night) but look for work as much as you are willing to work. For example, if you want to work 30 hours per week, start actively searching for jobs, filling out applications, writing your resume, networking, etc for 30 hours a week. Putting in that effort will get you something in no time AND it is "doing all you can" so you can feel comfortable playing afterwards.

The ONE Approach That Never Works

 
 

It’s 4:44 in the morning as I’m writing this, and no, I haven’t been up all night. 

I woke from a dream that ultimately activated my mind and had me start thinking about so many things I could be doing other than sleeping. Ideas were coming, opportunities were being recognized and my excitement for life overtook my desire to “try” to go back to sleep. 

This is precisely the opposite from what has happened my whole life. I’ve been a night owl for as long as I can remember, staying up and sleeping in. That whole “the early bird gets the worm” thing really baffled me…until now. 

It seems that as I get more connected to my self, spirituality and astrological influences, I’m finding more significance to my days. I’m experiencing more abundance, more opportunities, better relationships and most of all, more ease

Now, I’ve been a productivity coach for many years, so ease is kind of ingrained in me. I’ve always been able to recognize when something is right or wrong based on how much of a flow or clarity there is to it. This is not a new concept to me, but what I’ve realized is that this is apparently one of my big life lessons.

In all areas of life, there must be a notion of ease or natural ability (which can be learned in some cases) in order to create flow, which then creates synergy and eventually, momentum.

I thought I was “good” on this topic, considering all the inner work I’ve done. It was only recently in the last several months that I noticed this lesson of ease coming back into my life. It was a new level than what I had “mastered” in the past. I was catching a theme that was now obvious throughout my life in gradually different ways. Sometimes it would be around relationships, sometimes it would be around business, but no matter what, I understood why some things never worked out. The method I took for any kind of challenge was always the same and it reared it’s ugly head again in a new way:

I found myself pushing hard, stepping into the “doing” trap again. Working more hours, doing things I really didn’t need to be doing or spending way too much time on something in particular. I was confused a lot, struggling to grow my business, and trying to implement “proven formulas” into my process that I just couldn’t nail down. 

What does all of that have in common? FORCE

Dammit! I let myself fall prey to it again. No wonder things haven’t been working out. No wonder my energy is low, my confidence is weak and I don’t feel inspired. I’m trying too much. 

Let's all just knock this off, shall we?

Ladies, this approach will never yield the results we want. Trying to figure something out till you’re blue in the face means it’s not going to happen until you let go. Only when we embody ease, flow and authenticity, can we find the sweet spot for growth and fulfillment. (tweet that!)

Ease is the key to maintenance!

To quote my girl Gabby B “When we flow toward what is working, rather than push into what isn’t, we allow the Universe to lead us toward that which serves our highest good.”
 

What does that mean?

When I say ease, I don’t mean sitting back and relaxing until something comes our way. I mean harnessing our natural abilities or practicing something we truly desire until it’s second nature. There is a difference between working hard with inspired, creative and continual progress and just working hard. I believe It’s so important to put our soul into our life, projects, work and relationships so things get handled with satisfying effort. It’s the whole reason people delegate tasks. 

I always love the example of the CEO. The CEO is not going to take care of admin work not only because her time is incredibly valuable, but also that’s not the strength or power that she brings to the table. It’s in her vision, her specific zone of genius that only she can provide, which is what moves the company forward. How frustrated would she be if she had to create a spreadsheet while there is a creative planning session happening in the conference room?
 

So, how did I get out of the force cycle?

Sisterhood was the catalyst to my new eye-opening revelation. I’m in a mastermind of powerful soul-sisters, and with their fearless love, they didn’t let me stay in imposter town. By calling me out, reflecting back who I really am and encouraging me to do it my way, I finally accepted my truth. I allowed who I was to be infused in my process, instead of trying to put my round self in a square hole. Thanks to my community that has my best interest at heart, I was finally able to recognize what was happening. 

What works for you may not work for me, and vice versa.

It’s really easy to get caught up in developing the way other people do or follow someone else’s path to success.

Hey, they did it that way, why can’t I? 

I believe the only way to the freedom I know you crave, is to honor your truth, deep desires, natural abilities and unique genius by surrendering to yourself. (tweet that!)


When I came out of the woo woo closet, finally let go of control and allowed myself to be, everything opened up. SO many opportunities presented themselves, endless excitement and energy sustained my days and a bazillion ideas kept rolling in (and still do)! Things that were hard before, or pieces that I would procrastinate would suddenly become easy. Work started to feel waaayyy more aligned and efficient. Relationships started to deepen. The connection to my guides, angels and source was heightened. Pieces were totally coming together so I could see my path much more clear. I felt at peace and more motivated than ever. 
 

Specifically, things like…

  • Talking about my business more clearly and with more passion, which would almost immediately magnetize new ideal clients to me. This week I got 3 referrals from people I haven’t spoken with in years. 
  • Setting boundaries all over the place with more confidence which freed up my psyche and schedule. No more worrying about what other people think. 
  • Upholding the integrity of my loved ones by calling out their boundaries when they were not honored, which helped us to connect on a deeper level than I ever expected.
  • Keeping active and eating super healthy which started to become, once again, easy. (this have never been easy for me)
  • Popping out of bed at 4 in the morning feeling completely alive and empowered, eagerly writing this piece in under an hour. 


Things like that. 


I’m not surprised anymore by the endless magical synchronicities or adventurous innovation that keep happening to me. I know I am completely supported by my spiritual team because of the devotion I have towards myself and my mission. Sometimes I do question the reality of ease in my life, though. You know, when you’re not sure if your intuition is on point and you ask “is this real life? should I be doing this?”

Then I sit down to write and It’s (angel number) 4:44. 

Oh yeah. I’m supported. I forgot. Thanks for the reminder.
